At 11:58 on December 6, my country used the Long March 3B carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center to successfully put the Gaofen 14 satellite into the scheduled orbit and launch A complete success.
Gaofen 14 satellite is an optical three-dimensional surveying and mapping satellite of the national science and technology major special arrangement of the high-resolution earth observation system. It can efficiently obtain global high-precision three-dimensional images, measure large-scale digital topographic maps, and produce digital elevation models and digital surfaces. Products such as models and digital orthophotographs will provide basic geographic information guarantee for the construction of the “Belt and Road”.
This mission is the 354th flight of the Long March series of carrier rockets. The Long March 3B carrier rocket belongs to the Long March 3A series of rockets. In the past, the Long March 3B rocket was used to perform high-orbit launch missions, including geosynchronous transfer orbits and medium-earth orbits. This launch is the first time the Long March 3B rocket has performed a low-orbit launch mission, that is, a sun-synchronous orbit mission. For this reason, a lot of changes have been made to the software part of the rocket control system, and the flight software code has been rewritten about 30%, with the purpose of adapting to changes in the launch orbit. This launch means that the Long March IIIB rocket has both high and low orbit launch capabilities, improving the rocket’s orbital adaptability.
