Ukraine, China strengthen mutual cooperation on peaceful uses of outer space

December 23, 2020 Acting Mykhailo Lev, Chairman of the SCA, took part in the Fourth Meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Governments of Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China.

One of the main issues at the meeting was cooperation in space. The parties recognized that the areas of cooperation in the study and use of outer space for peaceful purposes are a priority in the development of Ukrainian-Chinese relations.

#“Cooperation between Ukraine and China has significant opportunities for further expansion and deepening, including through the new Signed Cooperation Program, which will take effect on January 1, 2021, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect for both countries,” said Mykhailo Lev. .

Acting The SCA Chairman congratulated the Chinese side on the successful completion of the Chanye-5 mission to collect and deliver lunar soil to Earth.

The program of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation in space for the period 2021-2025, which was signed in October this year following the Sixth meeting of the Subcommittee, consists of 69 areas, which include cooperation in the development of components of launch vehicles and spacecraft (SP) , spacecraft control systems, manufacture of optoelectronic devices, data of remote sensing of the Earth and their application, satellite navigation, etc.

Also within the framework of the Fourth Meeting of the Commission, a Program of Cooperation was signed between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on joint construction of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. A joint statement was made by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to initiate a joint feasibility study for trade liberalization.
