In a bid to address the recent social media misinformation on the provision of budgetary allocation for the Agency, the Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju has advised that every constituency project must have relevance with the core mandate of the Agency.
He gave the advice during his opening remarks at a Management meeting to deliberate on the preparation for the 2025 budgetary provision for the Agency.
He said any project or programme that does not have correlation with activities or mandate of the Agency should no longer be accepted in the name of constituents projects.
Dr. Adepoju noted with concern the need for the centres and laboratories of the Agency to embark on programmes of national coverage and interest that impact the society.
He called on all Directors , both at the Centres of excellence and Laboratories to work in synergy with those at the Headquarters for the progress of the Agency.
Dr. Adepoju added that the Agency should be able to account for the utilization of data being generated and called for the harmonization of activities of the Agency for productivity and effective delivery.
He urged the management team to remain focused and work towards the progress and development of the Agency, particularly at this point in time.
Dr Adepoju announced that discussions are currently on-going with the Honourable Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology on the need to set aside a day in the month of November for the 25th anniversary of the Agency.
The NASRDA boss explained that the proposed celebration is meant to celebrate the success story of the Agency thus far as well as to fashion out the way forward in the successful execution and transformation of the Nigeria Space policy and programme.
