The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), through the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), reported that Mexico’s space efforts have been recognized by the International Astronautics Federation (IAF). ).
The IAF is the highest organization that brings together the world space community in a federation, integrating space agencies, companies, research institutes, universities, societies, associations and museums. It was founded in 1951 and has 513 members in 78 countries.
The contribution to the progress of astronautics, defined as “science and engineering of navigation to outer space by artificial objects, manned or unmanned”, and the advancement of the federation’s space objectives for humanity are highlighted.
It is awarded by the president of the IAF, Clay Mowry, with the support of its executive director, Christian Feichtinger, and the committee officials, Antonietta Perino, and Anthony Tsougranis, among other personalities.
The IAF annually awards awards to institutions and personalities such as Elon Musk, who received it in 2023; It is delivered in different categories by area, concentrating, in this case, the last four years of what was done for Mexico’s space drive.
“It is in the name of Mexico and its youth that this recognition is accepted, as a symbol of the importance of the commitment to share knowledge, inspiration, and to redouble efforts for the progress of our country through engineering and technology” Landeros concluded.
