HISPAMAR has reached an agreement with Kroton, one of the largest private education organisations in the world, to distribute its remote-teaching multimedia contents live to more than 700 points in its network of higher education and post-graduate centres located in different states in Brazil benefiting more than one million students. The service is provided using the capacity of the Amazonas 2 satellite, located in the 61º West position, which will distribute Kroton’s contents to these centres from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Bahia, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Satellites are the ideal infrastructure to provide live, high-quality broadcasts of multimedia contents to many receivers, thanks to their capacity to transmit large volumes of information robustly and efficiently to any point found in their footprint. The 61º West orbital position, where HISPAMAR’s Amazonas fleet is located, boasts ideal coverage to provide multimedia services in Latin America and, more specifically, in Brazil. This satellite solution can be applied not only to broadcast television, but also for other types of multimedia contents, such as corporate and educational contents.
This agreement is part of Kroton’s strategy for 2019. The educational group is committed to the digital transformation, increasing the number of students and expanding the network of remote education centres, both in large urban areas and in small towns in the interior. Its objective is to guarantee that the greatest possible number of people can have access to higher education, regardless of where they live. Over the next few years, the number of centres is expected to increase substantially throughout Brazilian territory.
According to Leandro Tavares, Kroton’s Technical Director: “Hispamar is one of the leading providers of satellite solutions in Latin America and we trust that with its advanced technology and extended network we can make it possible to transform the future for thousands of Brazilians through education in all parts of the country. With this collaboration, we can expand our multimedia contents and bring them to a greater number of centres.”
In the opinion of Sergio Chaves, HISPAMAR’s Business Director for South America, “thanks to the ideal coverage provided by the Amazonas 2 over the Brazilian territory we can offer Kroton a live remote-teaching service in line with its ambitious growth plan. This way we can also help our client offer high-quality modern digital education to its students in Brazil, regardless of their location.”
