Agreement between HEAD Aerospace and NCTS

The Egyptian company, which operates the TIBA-1 geostationary satellite, will provide services on the Chinese constellation Skywalker for IoT and AIS in Egypt and other countries in the region.

On November 24, 2020, HEAD Aerospace and NCTS signed during the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event in Cairo, Egypt, a memorandum of understanding partnering to promote HEAD’s space IoT solution in Egypt. Through this Memorandum of Understanding, NCTS will be able to support HEAD in its regulatory applications and market access for Egypt and selected countries at the regional level. The cooperation may also include the deployment of infrastructure for the Skywalker constellation. NCTS will be able to position itself as a strategic partner and primary distributor of Space IoT services provided by the Skywalker constellation. NCTS operates teleport facilities and VSATs for various telecommunication services in Egypt and other Arab states and African countries on satellite capacityTIBA-1 . HEAD noted that there is great potential in Egypt for complementary services to narrowband space IoT solutions over Skywlaker.

“I am very excited about the new partnership between HEAD and NCTS. I see a lot of synergies between our companies and we are happy to trust NCTS to support our new IoT solution in Egypt and we trust that they are the best partner for us to develop the great potential that we have identified together in their country, ”said Jean-Daniel Tragus , the Commercial Director of HEAD Aerospace for the Middle East and Africa region.

The Skywalker constellation, operated by HEAD Aerospace, provides narrowband IoT, connectivity, and AIS services worldwide with a revisit frequency that increases with each new satellite launch. So far, 5 satellites have been launched out of a total of 48 planned to be deployed before the end of 2022. The Skywalker constellation will allow connectivity at intervals of less than 10 minutes in most of the world.

“We are pleased to announce the cooperation between the National Telecommunications Services Company and HEAD aerospace. There is no doubt that IoT applications play a vital role in many countries, especially when they can be accessed everywhere through the constellation of satellites. We are fairly confident that NCTS ‘infrastructure and capabilities will facilitate access to the spectrum and market for HEAD Aerospace as we fully believe that the Skywalker constellation will complement our portfolio of services in Africa and the Middle East, ”said Dr. Abdelhamid Mostafa , Chairman of the NCTS Board of Directors.
